Homo Ludens @CaxiaForum
Large scale art museum shows centered around video games and related art projects are incredibly rare thus far, even moreso that include a full show catalog I mention this to explain why I’m deviating a little bit from my usual entries and instead am creating a VGxA entry for a show and catalog I haven’t seen. Barcelona’s CaxiaForum has just such a show up called—somewhat stereotypically and also, unfortunately, given the troublesome prejudices of the namesake book—Homo Ludens. Running until April 18, 2022, this show has a fairly wide purview, ranging across games and their related media, art, and subcultures. It includes works from a number of artists featured or soon-to-be featured here. I’ll update this entry with a bit more info after I’ve visited, but given it can be years between such a show, I highly recommend seeing it yourself, or at least splurging on the catalog [even if you’ll be pocketing PBRs from openings to offset its shipping fee to the US.]
