The Gathering Sky
The Gathering Sky is a lyrical, meditative bird flocking simulator. You start the game with one lone symbol of a bird flying along, the ground passing far below (rendered in sumptuous, hazy, pastel stylings.) You continue along, collecting a flock that swoops and pirouettes through the skies at your touch, swirling into eddies, and breaking apart to avoid precarious mountain peaks. Throughout the game, an elegant orchestral score responds to your flock’s actions: joyfully gliding through the blue, darting hypnotically swelling, nimbly pirouetting back through each other, crashing through storm clouds, desperately trying to hold together as a flock and brave the fury of the skies. It is a deceptively simple game, but the finely rendered and subtle beauty of its parts all add up to an experience of operatic proportions, just with birds and the graceful gestures of your finger.
